Overcoming Indigenous Historical Trauma in Health Care

Our Work
Project's Goals

IHT & Bureaucracy
We work on assessing how the experience of bureaucracy when seeking health care creates IHT-triggered barriers to access for Indigenous patients
Economic & Social
Costs of Bureaucracy

We also aim to enumerate and evaluate the social and economic costs imposed on Indigenous Communities and on other stakeholders due to the difficulty of navigating the health care system's bureaucracy
Our Methods
Using the Quest Health incident reports as a foundation, the project has a three stage process
Primary Costs Analysis
Qualitative Analysis
Evaluation
First, analyze the primary economic costs to the community and health care system created by IHT
Second, explore the secondary social and psychological costs to family and community members through qualitative methods, including Indigenous GBA Plus
Third, critically evaluate the Quest's effectiveness in addressing and reducing IHT barrier to accessing health treatment
